Dinnertime Conversations

Dad: "What day is your birthday?"
Cody: "November 8th."
Dad: "The 8th, huh? So your birthday is the last possible day that could be election day."
Cody: "Uh...I guess so..."
Dad: "The reason I ask is because Matt's birthday is the first possible day that could be election day, and yours is the last. That's interesting."
Aubrie: "Because it has to be the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, right? So it couldn't ever be the 1st."
Dad: "or the 9th. Exactly."

*******************************************************

This one I walked into in the middle of the conversation...

Corey: "refer is one too."
Braeden: "How?"
Corey: "It's the same forwards and backwards, refer."
Aubrie: "Oh, are we talking about palendromes? Krista, this is right up your alley. You were the one that was so excited about palendromes when you were little."
Krista: "I was? I just barely learned what they are again!"
Corey: "Racecar."

Braeden: "You have to be able to spell it the same left to right and up and down."
Aubrie: "What? You mean like reflect it through the horizontal axis and have it stay the same? That's not a palendrome, that's like the word 'cool.'"
Braeden: "I never thought of that before, that is a cool word. (chuckle, chuckle). But noon is the perfect word, you can do it both ways."
Corey: "Actually...a 'n' is not a 'n' if it is upside down."

Aubrie: "Cody, what does your family talk about around the dinner table?"
Cody: "Not grammar."

******************************************************

Or politics, I'd wager. Apparently we're a weird family. Who knew?

For most of my junior high and high school life we couldn't get through a holiday meal without discussing physics. Many times lightbulbs or jacob's ladders were pulled out for the exploration of electricity...

This conversation is not accurate. I didn't say the line you attributed. I would like to demand a correction.

Sorry, Matt. I thought it was you that said it, I promise! I changed it to Corey, since I know it was a man and not Cody or Dad...that leaves Corey. Hopefully you'll somehow find it in your heart to forgive me!
